LATAM-SHM 2028

About LATAM-SHM 2028

Building on the growing advances in Latin American scientific community in the field of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), the Latin American Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (LATAM-SHM) was successfully established through its first two editions, held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and later in Santiago, Chile. Both events benefited from the scientific support of the committees of the European and International Workshops on SHM and confirmed the importance of a dedicated regional forum for researchers, engineers, and practitioners.

The third LATAM-SHM will take place in Juiz de Fora, Brazil, a strategically situated city in the country’s southeastern region. Brazil has a well-established tradition in engineering and applied sciences, and Juiz de Fora benefits from its proximity to Rio de Janeiro, one of the nation’s leading centers for science, culture, and economic activity. The city offers a pleasant, safe, and dynamic environment for hosting an international scientific event, being known for its hospitality, diverse gastronomy, vibrant musical and cultural scene, as well as its historical heritage and green urban spaces. Together, these characteristics create an attractive setting for conference participants, combining high-level scientific exchange with cultural experiences and opportunities for networking and social interaction.

The workshop aims to facilitate the exchange of information and to highlight the latest advancements in SHM technologies and their practical applications, focusing on contributions and developments from Central and South America. The scientific quality and positive reception of these editions consolidated LATAM-SHM as a biennial event, rotating among different countries in Central and South America, following the model of other well-established international workshops. The third edition of LATAM-SHM will continue this successful trajectory by fostering scientific exchange and collaboration within the SHM community.

If your academic or professional activity is related to this fast-growing technical field, you are invited to participate, either at the conference sessions or at the technical exhibition. It will give you great opportunities to make your research known worldwide and establish closer links with the scientific and industrial community, not only in Latin America but also internationally.
